Designed for experienced backcountry skiers seeking a true multi-day mountain experience, combining ascents, quality descents and nights in remote huts in the heart of Patagonia.

A multi-day ski touring traverse connecting some of Bariloche’s most iconic mountain huts: Refugio Frey, Refugio Jakob AND Refugio LópezDesigned for experienced backcountry skiers, this program offers a true multi-day mountain experience, combining ascents, quality descents and nights in remote huts in the heart of Patagonia.
Set among granite cirques, glacial valleys, alpine ridges and high mountain forests, this experience explores one of the most aesthetic and classic ski touring areas in Argentina.

An ideal program for skiers who already have backcountry experience and are ready to step into a more complete multi-day traverse, spending several days in the mountains and staying in remote huts.

Required Level
This program is designed for participants with prior ski touring or splitboard experience.
Recommended requirements:
- 2–3 seasons of ski touring experience
- ability to ascend 800–1200 vertical meters per day 800 y 1200 m positivos por día
- confident skiing in variable snow conditions
- basic knowledge of avalanche safety equipment (beacon, shovel, probe)
- basic experience using crampons and a light ice axe
- good physical fitness for multi-day travel carrying a backpack
Itinerary
Arrival in bariloche
Arrival at Bariloche Airport and private transfer to your accommodation.
Hotel check-in, gear check with the guides, and free time to rest or explore the town.
In the evening, welcome dinner and program briefing.
Overnight in Bariloche.
Warm-Up Day
Depending on weather, wind conditions and group level, this day will take place in one of the following areas:
Option A – Cerro Catedral & La Laguna
Lift-assisted warm-up day, ideal for adjusting equipment, assessing the group’s level and starting to ski with minimal physical load.
Opción B – Valle del Challhuaco
A full ski touring day in a scenic glacial valley with forested terrain, ideal for working on pacing, transitions and group flow.
Return to the hotel.

Approach to Refugio Frey
Transfer to Cerro Catedral.
Initial lift access followed by a ski touring approach to Refugio Frey.
Depending on timing and conditions, there may be opportunities for a few runs in the surrounding granite cirques.
A full day of ski touring around Refugio Frey.
The area offers a wide variety of lines, bowls and couloirs, set in a unique landscape of granite spires typical of Patagonia.

Second night at Refugio Frey.
Traverse to Refugio Jakob
Departure from Frey for an alpine traverse toward Refugio Jakob.
Throughout the day, the route follows classic mountain terrain, with the possibility of adding short descents along the way depending on conditions.
Arrival at the hut in the afternoon.
Overnight at Refugio Jakob.

A full day to explore the Jakob basin, one of the most interesting areas for ski touring in Bariloche.
Expansive terrain with options in multiple aspects, including couloirs, open slopes and classic spring lines.
Second night at Refugio Jakob.
Long Traverse to Refugio López
A demanding and full mountain day
Early departure from Jakob to connect with the Refugio López area, following a long and highly aesthetic alpine route.
Arrival at the hut in the afternoon.
Overnight at Refugio López.
Skiing in López area & Return to Bariloche
